Fully automated low- and high-vacuum system for non-ambient X-ray analysis

Studying materials at non-ambient conditions is important for many industries and research projects.

The combination of X-ray diffraction and a controlled environment gives direct information about the behavior of materials under varying temperatures and atmospheric conditions. In many of these non-ambient applications a high-performance vacuum system is an absolute must, unfortunately increasing user complexity because of additional manual operations.

Now, in response to this challenge, PANalytical in co-operation with the renowned vacuum innovation expert Edwards Ltd. has developed a fully automatic low- and high-vacuum system for non-ambient chambers that takes away the hurdle of manual operation.

This latest addition to PANalytical’s product range is a push-button vacuum system which further strengthens PANalytical’s position as the world leader in providing integrated non-ambient XRD solutions.

Vacuum systems are essential in many non-ambient applications: for example when measuring below freezing point to prevent condensation and freezing of moisture and residual gasses or when performing experiments at high temperatures in order to prevent oxidation of samples and heating strips. Now, the complicated starting-up and shutting down procedures of the vacuum system have been automated, eliminating the need for manual control of turbo pumps or vent valves. The user can fully focus on the diffraction experiment.
