WDXRF Pro-Trace software training

WDXRF and Pro Trace software training course

Familiarization with Pro-Trace software for trace element analysis is the basis of this course. The physical and mathematical procedures of this software are explained using theory and practical sessions. Also the complete calibration procedure will be explained and practiced.

Course content

The main aspects covered during the course are the following:

  • Reminder of the basic principles of the theory of X-rays
  • Theory and practical of matrix correction with Compton scatter lines
  • Theory and practical of background correction
  • Theory and practical of line overlap correction
  • Tube impurity correction
  • Set-up of a measuring program using the smart element Selector
  • Set-up of a calibration
  • Set-up and usage of a calibration maintenance program
  • Introduction in the addition of more jump edge corrections and their relation to Spectral Interferences
  • Introduction in how to add local standards and there (dis)advantage(s)

Requirements

  • A good knowledge of the physics of X-rays
  • A good know ledge of mathematics and the use of Microsoft Excel is highly recommended
  • A good knowledge of SuperQ software
  • The standard XRF and SuperQ training course can seen as a good basis
  • WDXRF spectrometer equipped with SuperQ software and Omnian
