Calcination and clinker production

In view of the reduction of CO2 emission during calcination and clinker production, process control becomes even more critical and the need of accurate and rapid analysis of the elemental and mineralogical composition is even more predominant. For example analysis of the mineralogical phase composition of the clinker allows to control the process such that CO2 emission is reduced, while yielding a high-quality end product. On the other hand CO2 reduction drives the use of alternative fuels in the kiln. The stringent emission regulations drive the need to detect heavy elements and eliminate their emission. Furthermore, these fuels determine the final quality of the clinker.

PANalytical’s XRF solutions, such as the Cement edition of Zetium allow for rapid and accurate analysis of products in the various stages in the production process. It is compliant with the ASTM C114 norm and has a sample changer that can handle up to 200 samples.

PANalytical’s CubiX³ Cement XRD solution is the ideal tool for rapid and reliable mineralogical quantification of the products in the various stages in the production process. The optional X’Changer can handle up to 64 samples. The CubiX³ can be connected with the Cement edition of Zetium using a belt for combined elemental and mineralogical analysis.
